Privacy, for parents

Plain answers for parents.

The short version: Germ Chase has no ads, no third-party analytics and no accounts. The camera is used live on the iPhone and nothing it sees is uploaded. Your family's data stays on your devices, or in your own iCloud if you turn on family sync.

Who we are

Germ Chase is a toothbrushing game for iPhone. Questions about this policy: [contact email coming soon].

The camera and face data

While your child brushes, Germ Chase uses the front camera (with Apple's ARKit face tracking and the TrueDepth camera where available) and on-device hand tracking to find the face, the mouth and the toothbrush, so the game knows which teeth are being brushed.

What is stored on the iPhone

Deleting the app deletes all of this. You can also remove a child, with everything about them, in Settings.

Family sync (optional, with Germ Chase Plus)

If you turn on family sync, the children's names, settings, progress and brushing records are kept in your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit, in an encrypted form, and shared only with the parents you invite. We have no access to it. You can stop sharing, remove someone, or delete the family's iCloud copy at any time in Settings, under Family sync.

Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We never see payment details. The app only receives confirmation from Apple of which plan is active, so it can open the islands.

Notifications

If you start the free week, the app can remind you before it ends. These reminders are scheduled on your iPhone and only appear if you allow notifications. Family sync also uses Apple's silent notifications to keep devices up to date; they carry no personal information.

No ads, no tracking

Germ Chase contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking tools, and it doesn't track anyone across apps or websites. Apple may share anonymous, combined statistics about downloads and crashes with us if you agreed to that in your iPhone's settings.

Children's privacy

Germ Chase is made for children, so we designed it not to collect personal information from them. Nothing a child does in the app is sent to us or to anyone else. Purchases go through Apple and need the account holder's Face ID or password. Adding, editing or removing a child sits behind a question only grown-ups can answer.
